Pre-natally my work is to empower you with information to help you express your birth wishes, teach you practices that will help you feel more comfortable and confident during labour, and offer resources to help inform you of your options. As a Birth Doula, I offer steadfast support throughout labour and birth, by suggesting comfort measures, offering emotional encouragement and creating a space that feels relaxed.
Prenatal Yoga is an introduction for birthing people to the rhythm and rituals that will support them in labour. It includes hard work as well as relaxation, and is a practice that prepares not only the body, but the mind and the breath; for the physical and emotional changes during pregnancy and labour. A doula is a labour companion. She is a trained professional who offers non-medical care and support, to pregnant people and their families before, during and after birth. Research shows that individuals who use a birth doula are more likely to experience shorter labours, and to describe their childbirth experience positively. I support all birth preferences, whether medicated or natural, in home or hospital, vaginal or cesarean. Various packages and prices available.
If you’d like guidance while considering your birthing options, but aren’t inclined to use the full doula services; a birth mapping session could be the support you’re looking for. Together we’ll discuss the facts, your preferences, various situations and their meanings; and assemble a comprehensive birth plan you can bring to your health care provider. All birth wishes are good birth wishes, and making informed decisions will make birth empowering.
